What to expect when your WamBam fence ships by motor freight (LTL)
For larger orders, your fence will ship via LTL (less-than-truckload) motor freight rather than FedEx. This is actually better for big orders — it reduces the chance of damage and keeps shipping costs lower than sending dozens of individual FedEx boxes.
Having a freight truck show up at your home might feel unfamiliar, but it's straightforward once you know what to expect. This page covers everything you need to know from the moment your order ships to the moment it delivers.
Shipping and transit times
We ship virtually all orders within 1 to 3 business days. Transit time after that varies by state — view the motor freight transit time chart here. All transit times are estimates and are not guaranteed. Weekends and holidays do not count toward the estimated transit time, and the day your order leaves our warehouse does not count as day one.
Tracking your order
You will receive an email with tracking information approximately 24 hours after your order ships. Keep in mind that freight carriers do not always update their tracking websites promptly — your order may appear to be sitting at a warehouse for a few days with no movement. This does not necessarily mean anything is wrong.
For shipping-related questions only, contact our freight broker directly at 704-312-4045. Even before your order ships, you'll receive an email from "MI Logistics" (our freight broker) who will have already provided you with their contact info and important details about your delivery.
Scheduling your delivery appointment
Unlike FedEx, freight deliveries require you to be home. Deliveries can only be scheduled Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Here's what to expect:
- Your local freight terminal will call you to schedule a delivery window (for example, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm).
- Due to unforseen factors like traffic, the driver could arrive outside that window.
- When they call, take the name and phone number of the appointment clerk at the delivering terminal in case you need to follow up.
- We strongly recommend providing your cell phone number when placing your order so the freight company can reach you easily. Make sure you are answering calls you might not recognize, it could be them calling you!
Important: It is your responsibility to take calls from the freight company and return voicemails promptly. If the trucking company and WamBam are unable to reach you after multiple attempts, your shipment may be returned. In that case, you will receive a refund minus all associated shipping charges. WamBam cannot contact freight companies on your behalf to reschedule delivery.
Unloading your order
Your fence will arrive on a pallet, shrink-wrapped tightly. The fence inside is packed into manageable cardboard boxes. View box sizes and weights by fence style here.
IMPORTANT: The truck that delivers your fence MAY or MAY NOT have a liftgate to lower your pallet of fence from the trailer of the truck. If it does, the driver has discretion whether to use it or not. HAND UNLOADING OF YOUR BOXES FROM THE TRUCK MAY BE NECESSARY. Have at least two people available on delivery day. The driver may help unload boxes from the truck, but it is not their responsibility to do so. Drivers are only obligated to deliver curbside and for liability reasons they will NOT want to drive their truck onto your driveway.
Damaged or missing product
While rare, damage during shipping can happen. Here's what to do:
- Before the driver leaves: Inspect all boxes in front of the driver. A damaged box doesn't always mean the product inside is damaged — open a box or two to check if you're unsure.
- If product is damaged: The driver will want you to sign a delivery receipt before leaving. Write "X boxes damaged" or "Some boxes damaged, subject to inspection" on the driver's receipt before signing, then contact WamBam immediately. Photos of the damage are very helpful.
- If product is missing or incorrect due to a shipping problem: Call us immediately at 877-778-5733 and we'll make it right.
- If you find you did not order enough (or correct) material for your project: We'll help you work through it, but you will be responsible for the cost of additional product.
Important: All shipping damage is the responsibility of the freight carrier, not WamBam Fence. Always inspect your order before the driver leaves and notate that you have damage before you sign.
If there's an issue with your driver
We have great relationships with our freight carriers and the vast majority of deliveries go smoothly. On rare occasions, you may encounter a driver having a difficult day. Once freight leaves our warehouse it is largely outside our control, but we are always on your side. If you run into any issues, call us and we'll do everything we can to help.
